  • I just got my tags a few days ago. So I am very, very new to all of this. I got some of the round tags which I believe are the magnets but I’m not sure. It says it works on metal. What I want to know is, has anyone found a way to let’s say, put the magnet on to Will say a piece of card stock and then rubber band it around the can so you can reuse the tags when you’re done with that cam. Thank you.

Hi Lynn, the magnets are square. One hint is with WayTags, any of the square tags can go on metal. The square tags can also go on plastic, glass, or anything else, but if you are tagging something that is metal, you will need to use a square tag. Your idea of attaching a WayTag to a piece of card stock or index card is a great idea! You can use a WayTag sticker – either square or round should work. For cans in particular, you can also use a WayClip with a rubber band. If you use the magnet, put it on the top of the can. If the can has a pull-tab, you can slide the WayTag right underneath the tab. Any of those methods work well. It’s purely a matter of personal preference which one you choose!

I am so sorry to be asking so many questions on different topics. But I want to make sure I do this right. If I attach one of the magnets to a piece of card stock and loop, it around the metal can with an elastic band, will the tag still be able to be read by my phone? I guess what I’m getting at is no matter how you attach it, the magnets or metal cans should always be used with magnets. Thank you so much for all of your help.

Lynn, you don’t need to use the cardstock with magnets. Simply place the magnet directly on the metal can and it can be read by your phone. The magnets aren’t really flexible, so they need to go on the top or the bottom of the can. Hope that helps! 🙂
