  • Hi Yoo Jin, this is an iOS issue that Apple acknowledged a good while back but has not yet fixed. This happens in apps other than WayAround. The VoiceOver focus seems to randomly move to a new location, therefore cutting off VoiceOver before it completes speaking all of the text.

The good news is there’s an easy fix! Simply turn VoiceOver off and back on. This should fix the problem. Some users find that this works for a while and then the issue comes back. If that happens, turn VoiceOver off and back on again, and everything should work as expected.

Hi Kay – the Dashboard is a feature that is coming. Once it’s available, you will be able to see all of the data you’ve entered. The fields associated with the dashboard are not visible on the tag, but if you go ahead and fill them out, you will be able to sort by those fields (name and location). The name field is great if you have items in inventory. For example Holiday decor box 1, etc. For location, you could say “garage” or “back corner in the attic.” For super organized people, the dashboard will be a great way to keep an inventory of what you have and where it is stored.

When you fill out the information on the tag, you can enter as much or as little information as you’d like. The description field is the only field that will be read back (with VoiceOver or TalkBack on) as soon as you read the tag. The other fields will be read if you swipe to hear them. A good rule of thumb is to enter information in the description field that you want to hear every time you scan a WayTag. If there’s information that you need sometimes, but not all the time – for example, laundering instructions – that’s great information to put in the details. Select a detail type to use some of our pre-defined fields that are common for that type of item. Or you can use the Custom detail type to enter all of your own information. You can enter a heading and text for multiple detail fields. If you only want to enter a description, you don’t have to select a detail type.

Be in touch if you have other questions. Thanks – Jessica

You can use the clips like a paper clip, and the NFC portion of the clip can point either up or down. The tongue in the center has some subtle notches, and you can use a rubber band or elastic with the clip. Some people use the WayClips on canned food – loop the rubber band around the can and then slip the WayClip onto the rubber band.

Here are some other ways you can use the WayClips:
Shoes – works great on laces, and you can remove the clip while you’re wearing the shoes.
    Loop onto a keychain
For houseplants – Stick the clip directly into the soil and use the tag to record watering schedules, fertilizing schedules, etc.
Slip onto the skinny side of cereal boxes or other food packaging
Clip onto mail as it’s sorted and record to-do items, due dates, etc.

If you end up using them in other ways, please share. I love hearing ideas that I can pass on to others.

Thanks, Barbara – this is a great idea! Right now, the dark color is the only available option to ensure the level of waterproof capacity that we want for this product. We would love to offer a lighter color button that meets our waterproofing standards – we’ll keep you posted if that becomes available.

Hi Barbara – the stickers have a coating so they are quite durable. In a filing system, you may be able to read through file folders to another sticker. We recommend that you use file folders with staggered tabs, and it may also help to lift up the folder slightly before scanning. Our co-founder Armand has used WayTag stickers on his files and it has made a world of difference for him.

We’re currently in the final stages of testing our Android app. If you experience any issues with TalkBack or if you think of ways we can make using the app a better experience for TalkBack users, please let us know!

This is a known issue, and will be fixed in an upcoming release.
